October 27th, 2009

Filed under: News — admin @ 1:30 pm

This is an “All Call” issued to every American

On November 2nd 2009, at approximately 7:00 AM, USS New York will enter New York harbor for what will undoubtedly be the Greatest Commissioning Event this Nation has ever Witnessed.

2948 days ago the Heart of this City was Ripped Out and now some of what we Lost Returns.

We need to show this Crew, this Nation and the World just how we feel

We all know where we were when they Fell

You want to be here when they Return

We need to line the Shores, fill the Boats and get out there to Welcome

The Mighty USS New York

No other event in your Lifetime will leave you this Breathless

The colors of the day are Red, White and Blue with a splash of Yellow Ribbon

Bring your Flags and Welcome Signs

Shout from the Rooftops and Toot your Horns

The World is Watching, don’t let the Fallen be Forgotten

It is here at this time and place that we Say

We Will “Never Forget”

At 8:00 AM USS New York will pause abeam the World Trade Center Site

She will dip her flag and a 21 gun Salute will be Rendered

New York will then transit up the Hudson River to the George Washington Bridge

And then return south to dock at pier 88 at about 10:15

Out of the Ashes a Great National Treasure has risen

Now it’s our Job to Show our Support

The future USS New York LPD-21 under construction at Northrop Grumman Ship Systems’ shipyard in Avondale, LA, will be the fifth amphibious transport dock of the San Antonio class. The ship was named New York after the state and incorporates in its construction steel salvaged from the World Trade Centers. Her ship motto is "Never Forget." "We're very proud that the twisted steel from the WTC towers will soon be used to forge an even stronger national defense," New York Gov. George Pataki spoke in 2002. "The USS New York will soon be defending freedom and combating terrorism around the globe, while also ensuring that the world never forgets the evil attacks of Sept. 11 and the courage and strength New Yorkers showed.” This will be the seventh U.S. ship named New York.
